Examination Student Activities Library Department Location Navigator		The Manipur Institute of Technology(formerly known as Government College of Technology) is a Constituent College of Manipur University created by an act of Parliament, called ‘Manipur University Act. 2005’ and run under Manipur University Ordinance B-17. It is being maintained by the Manipur University out of the funds made available to it by the UGC.
	It came into existence as Government College of Technology(GCT)  on 28 August 1998 with 3 (three) engineering disciplines viz.Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering for the promotion of higher technical education in the state. Classes of the 1st batch were started from 16 December 1998.  The approved intake capacity as per AICTE is 150 (one hundred and fifty) students per year. The campus is located at Takyelpat at a distance of 5 km from the heart of Imphal and 6 km. from the Imphal Airport. The Academic Building and other infrastructures are being developed in the Manipur University Campus.
